Community and public toilets

Community and public toilets

Households (Beneficiary Household group) whose member practice open defecation and who do not have access to HH toilet and for whom the construction of IHHL is not feasible are given assistance to construct community toilet.

Government of India incentive for the construction of community toilet will be in the form of 40% grant/VGF for each community toilet.  State will contribute a minimum of 40% fund towards community toilets project to match 60% central share.

ULBs should ensure sufficient numbers of public toilets are constructed in each city.  All prominent places within the city attracting floating population shall be covered.  There is no incentive support from Government of India  for the construction of public toilets.
